When is the last time you stopped long enough to soak in the wonderful sights and sounds of nature? Have you ever taken a stroll in the woods after a cleansing rain shower while listening to a chorus of peepers while soaking up the earthy aroma? Or have you ever just closed your eyes and listened to the leaves rustling in the breeze on a warm summers eve? When is the last time you walked barefoot through the wet grass, or laid down on the ground and stared up at the night sky? The beauty of nature is all around us … all we have to do is just open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts.

My husband and I are fortunate enough to live in an area blessed with an abundance of wildlife and amazing scenery, the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Although it’s easy to take for granted, I feel very fortunate to live around so much natural beauty. And I’m thankful for the Creator who designed such a magnificent world for us to enjoy. Charles Dickens once said that “Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own.” And he’s right.
